Artist bio - While attending Alief Taylor High School I discovered a knack for art/animation, entering and winning multiple Houston and Texas schools based art competitions. Getting recognition from several art schools based on my multi-media short film, "Daddy."
After graduating High School, I attended the Art Institute of Houston where I founded the animation club Cartoon Calamity, produced a couple of shorts (including a semi-finalist in the Kraft Foods "Have a Happy Sandwich" animation contest), and led a team of students to compete in the Kalamazoo Animation Festival International. I graduated with a B.F.A. with a focus on Media Arts and Animation. After college I toured with punk rock bands playing drums, sleeping on floors, and creating illustrations for musicians. Writing music, illustrating merch, and managing a touring schedule - it was all part of the DIY spirit. Settling down in St. Louis, MO, I started work as an Illustrator for www.coloringbook.com and quickly moved up to become Art Director where I helped in the creation of books for Ronnie Milsap, The Estate of John Denver, The Dallas Stars, and The US Department of State. In my free time I worked as a caricature artist under the Circus Kaput agency and worked private events including player/staff only events for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2020 I moved back to Houston, TX and transitioned into a career in marketing and started working as an independent performer, performing under the name Radical Royce. Currently I'm publishing a weekly Jiu Jitsu comic and create short stories/comics/kids books in my free time. |
